Definition

Sense 1

A directive issued by a commander to subordinate units for the execution of an operation.

"The operations order was issued 18 hours before H-Hour."
Sense 2

A directive issued by a commander to subordinate units to coordinate an operation.

"The operations order specified each unit's task and purpose."

How This Term Is Used

This is standard operational vocabulary that appears across situation reports, briefings, and orders. Candidates preparing for STANAG 6001 should be able to both recognise this term when listening or reading, and use it accurately in their own written reports and spoken responses.
