Definition

Sense 1

An abbreviated version of an operations order, issued to update or change a previous order.

"A fragmentary order was issued changing the axis of advance at 0300 hours."
Sense 2

A brief order that updates or modifies a previous operations order.

"A FRAGO was issued to change the route after the road was blocked."

How This Term Is Used

This is standard operational vocabulary that appears across situation reports, briefings, and orders. Candidates preparing for STANAG 6001 should be able to both recognise this term when listening or reading, and use it accurately in their own written reports and spoken responses.
