Sense 1

A preliminary notice of an order or action that is to follow.

"A warning order was issued giving units 12 hours to prepare for the operation."
Sense 2

A preliminary notice of an order or action that is to follow.

"The warning order was issued six hours before the full operations order."

How This Term Is Used

This is standard operational vocabulary that appears across situation reports, briefings, and orders. Candidates preparing for STANAG 6001 should be able to both recognise this term when listening or reading, and use it accurately in their own written reports and spoken responses.
