Sense 1

A deliberate halt in operations to allow forces to consolidate and resupply.

A temporary halt in operations to replenish, consolidate, and reposition forces.

How This Term Is Used

This is standard operational vocabulary that appears across situation reports, briefings, and orders. Candidates preparing for STANAG 6001 should be able to both recognise this term when listening or reading, and use it accurately in their own written reports and spoken responses.
