Definition

An area where enemy activity of specific interest to the commander is anticipated.

"The bridge was in a target area of interest for the targeting process."

How This Term Is Used

This is standard operational vocabulary that appears across situation reports, briefings, and orders. Candidates preparing for STANAG 6001 should be able to both recognise this term when listening or reading, and use it accurately in their own written reports and spoken responses.
