Definition
Sense 1
A state of readiness at dawn and dusk when attack is most likely.
"All positions were occupied for morning stand-to at 0530 hours."
Sense 2
A state of readiness in which all troops are in position and armed.
"Stand-to was ordered one hour before first light and one hour after last light."
How This Term Is Used
This is standard operational vocabulary that appears across situation reports, briefings, and orders. Candidates preparing for STANAG 6001 should be able to both recognise this term when listening or reading, and use it accurately in their own written reports and spoken responses.
