Sense 1

Operations to convey selected information to influence the attitudes and behaviour of target audiences.

"Leaflets and radio broadcasts were used in psychological operations."
Sense 2

Planned operations to influence attitudes and behaviour; abbreviated PSYOP.

"Psychological operations broadcast messages to encourage enemy surrender."

How This Term Is Used

This is standard operational vocabulary that appears across situation reports, briefings, and orders. Candidates preparing for STANAG 6001 should be able to both recognise this term when listening or reading, and use it accurately in their own written reports and spoken responses.
