Definition

Officer Commanding — the commander of a sub-unit such as a company or battery.

"The OC issued his orders to section commanders at 1400 hours."

How This Term Is Used

This is standard operational vocabulary that appears across situation reports, briefings, and orders. Candidates preparing for STANAG 6001 should be able to both recognise this term when listening or reading, and use it accurately in their own written reports and spoken responses.
